G1 is the first step in Ontario's graduated licensing system. It allows you to practice your driving skills with a supervising licensed driver who has held a G licence for at least 4 years.
The written test consists of 2 sections with 20 questions in each section, for a total of 40 questions. You must score at least 16 correct answers in each section to pass.
You must score at least 80% (16 out of 20 questions) in each of the two sections: Road Signs and Rules of the Road.
The G1 licence package costs $158.25, which includes the knowledge test, G2 road test, and a 5-year licence.
You must maintain a 0% BAC level, have a supervising G licence driver in the front seat at all times, cannot drive between midnight and 5 am, and may not drive on 400-series highways unless with a certified instructor.
